Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina
The Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina at Lake Waccamaw - Jaycee Cottage
The Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina is a privately funded non-sectarian, not-for-profit agency that provides a "family" environment for as long as is necessary and practical for children needing an out-of-home setting. The homes provide shelter, food, clothing, education, emotional support and moral/ethical/spiritual guidance to the children. The campus is located on Lake Waccamaw in southeastern North Carolina.
How Chapters Can Help
There are three ways you and your chapter can help the Boys in our cottage:
- Raise Funds - Run a fundraiser project such as an auction, bake sale, car wash, etc. Get matching contributions from your members' employers and other local companies.
- Donate gifts in kind - Donated items count the same as cash, just complete a "Gifts in Kind" form. Hold drives to collect items for the six "theme" months: sporting equipment, school supplies, etc. Donate items the Boys can't use to the Country Store, which will be sold to raise funds. Bring Christmas gifts to the party in Asheboro.
- Social activities with the Boys - send birthday cards, attend birthday parties at the cottage or visit the cottage at other times. Invite the boys to your town for sporting events, family days, etc. Make the Boys extra manpower on fun projects like your haunted house. Do something special for the Boys who are from your hometown.
Birthday Parties
We need several chapters to participate in each party. We need gifts, cake, ice cream, decorations, and games to play with the Boys and representatives from your chapter. So, bake a cake, bring some party favors or bring some footballs and frisbees and we will have a good time!!!
